About the SheShed

 
 

Welcome to Mossman support Services SheShed, initially funded by the Douglas Shire Council major grants programme.

Now nearing it’s 3rd year, The SheShed welcomes women of any ability who are 18+ and a school holiday program for young women 12+ throughout various holiday periods (chaperoned by another adult).

Our vision is for our women in our community is to :

  • remain socially active, and enjoy the company of like-minded women

  • share and develop skills, particularly in manual practices around the home with a focus on maintenance and repairs, furniture restoration, upholstery, picture framing and various other improvements that require the use of hardware and tools.

  • learn how to effectively and safely operate basic power tools required for home maintenance and repairs.

  • Provide a collaborative space to create and expand on ideas with guidance from experienced facilitators

  • Become empowered to maintain and care for their home and help sustain a better quality of life

  • provide a safe, friendly, and nurturing environment

  • experience satisfaction from the completion of community projects

  • participate in fundraising activities

  • ensure and observe safe work practices

We encourage values of compassion, empathy, positive support and encouragement regardless of ability.
